Here at Foglie d’Oro, nature is not only inspiration: it’s the very essence of what we do. This is the vision behind Azalea: an original Design Module that re-imagines wood flooring and brings a distinctive, contemporary aesthetic. Designed by Luisa Brotto, Azalea takes shape from an observation of nature and the ability to transform its smoothest, most beautiful geometries into a unique decorative system. The design is based on irregular hexagons, arranged into a pattern inspired by the flower the module takes its name from.

Azalea is a designer surface that goes beyond the concept of decoration, bringing rhythm, depth and character to living spaces. The strength of the pattern lies in its ability to strike a perfect balance between geometric precision and natural beauty. Each module follows a precise compositional logic, while at the same time allowing ample freedom of interpretation. The choice of woods, finishes and materials, inlays and colour combinations allow for the creation of an impressive variety of configurations that adapt effortlessly to any project. The result is a surface with a distinctive, unique character every time, taking the traditional concept of flooring to the next level and turning it into an authentic interior design element

More than a design, Azalea is an identity, open to endless interpretations

The module embodies a number of Foglie d’Oro’s core principles: natural inspiration, geometry, a culture of wood, attention to detail and fine workmanship with fine materials. Its strength lies in the superb balance between structure and interpretation. Available in Walnut or Oak, it can be made entirely in wood, or enhanced with inserts in natural materials such as marble and metal. The Colorsense finishes expand the layout options further, enabling the incorporation of tones inspired by nature that allow the grain of the wood to shine. The beauty of Azalea is that it allows every designer to interpret the space they wish to create.

Beyond flooring

Azalea was originally conceived as a floor design module, but it can also be adapted for use on walls. In the 2D panelling version, the module is applied to the vertical surface, maintaining its graphic and decorative character for a smooth, elegant wall that complements the flooring and the architecture of the room. Azalea 3D brings depth to the module, offering a decorative resource that can be used to cover the entire wall, transforming it into a textured, continuous surface.
Azalea 3D Art affords enhanced creative freedom to the floral motif. A selection of modules is arranged on the wall, leaving spaces between them, like a textural artwork or a decorative bouquet.

Italian craftsmanship quality

Azalea is crafted entirely in Italy, where every stage of the process takes place in-house: from concept and technical design to production and finishes, as well as quality control and packaging, on a journey that combines technology, research and craftsmanship expertise. Every combination of wood, marble, metal and colour is the result of meticulous aesthetic and technical research. The R&D department studies and validates each solution, which the technical department turns into a detailed design. Our master cabinetmakers then complete the process with their fine workmanship and in-depth knowledge of the materials. It is this balance between manufacturing expertise and exquisite craftsmanship that defines the quality of Foglie d’Oro creations: original designs engineered with precision and finished with care, entirely in Italy.
